Travel Tip 17: 3 Easy Ways to Avoid Jet Lag
It’s a fact that the further you travel from your home base, the easier it is to get jet lag and all the symptoms that accompanied it.
Sleep on the Plane
To prevent getting jet lag, you may want to sleep on the plane. For long haul flight, the airline should provide you with a neck pillow. For short trip, you might want to get a travel pillow with you. Alternatively, you might want to try some sleeping aid. It’s best to experiment with these before you get onto the plane to know how it reacts.
Adjust Sleep Pattern
If you are uncomfortable taking sleeping aid, learn how to adjust your sleep pattern. One week before you depart, adjust your sleep times by about 1 hour per day to eventually match your destination’s time zone. So, if your destination’s time zone is one hour earlier, get up an hour earlier per day and go to sleep 1 hour earlier until you matched the required time zone.
Take Melatonin – pills or wine form
Seasoned travelers often take melatonin as a great jet lag remedy. However, if you want to take melatonin the natural way, try drinking red wine at the airport or on your flight.
